These main studs will give better and more even clamping pressure on the bottom end of the Northstar engine. These are standard size fit so they will go into the factory holes with no drilling or tapping required. Manufactured from chromoly steel and then roll threaded after heat treat, these fasteners have higher quality standards than the factory ones ever did!
Using a stud is always a good idea over a bolt, especially in aluminum engine blocks. With studs, the threads are all fully engaged before any clamp load is applied to the part. This results in less chance of damaging or stripping threads.
If you need oversized studs for stripped holes, we sell those too in our other items. But these are standard and will screw right in.
On the early 1993-1995 engines, 10 factory bolts will have short studs on the end of them to hold the oil baffle plate. On 1996-2011 engines, there are 19 regular bolts and 1 bolt with a short stud to hold the oil pickup tube.
